I hope folks will consider joining us for a nine-week dance series at the Athens Community Center starting October 15 and running Sundays from 2 – 4 pm through mid December!

Want to get your brain and body moving and meet new friends? Scottish Country Dance is a social dance form a bit like contra, but with more footwork. The name of the game is fun!

This nine-week class meets every Sunday at the Athens Community Center between October 15 and December 10. Each week we’ll be building on the previous week’s session, so drop-ins aren’t possible. (However, if you need to miss a class or two, you’ll be fine as long as you don’t miss multiple classes in a row.)

Start at the very beginning then level up to become a strong intermediate dancer. We’ll learn jigs, reels, and strathspeys and students will become proficient at all the basic figures plus reels of three, quick-time poussette, and two-couple allemandes.

Who is this for: You! This class will be perfect if you’ve never danced before, if you’re a pro with patience, or for anyone in the middle. No partner needed. All folks 18+ are welcome. If you can walk briskly, you can dance!

Cost: $40 for all nine sessions.

**Registration required**: Please visit the Athens Community Center online or in person to sign up

Attire: Clothes you can move in! Sneakers or ghillies are great on your feet. Dresses, kilts, shorts, or yoga pants are all perfect.

    Come dance with us!
