I hope you’ll consider sharing our start-at-the-beginning Scottish folk dance class with your readers. It’s an 8-week series running from July 14 to September 1, 2 – 4 pm, at the Athens Community Center. Here’s the facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/1016300963385266?ref=newsfeed And here’s the direct link to the community center page: https://secure.rec1.com/OH/athens-oh/catalog/index/c6394082406820fc6d28e83b621579a0?filter=c2VhcmNoPSZsb2NhdGlvbiU1QjMyODE5JTVEPTEmY2F0ZWdvcnklNUIyNjExOSU1RD0xJmFnZUdyb3VwJTVCMTAlNUQ9MSZkYXlzT2ZUaGVXZWVrJTVCNiU1RD0x

    A bit more info:

Do you want to spend two hours a week having FUN? How about sliding in exercise without noticing it? Do you want to make friends and become part of a nurturing community? Or figure out puzzles that date back beyond the founding of our nation?

Scottish Country Dance is a social dance form a bit like contra, but with more footwork. Start at the very beginning then level up to become a strong intermediate dancer. We’ll learn jigs, reels, and strathspeys and students will become proficient at all the basic figures plus reels of three, quick-time poussette, and two-couple allemandes. For folks who have taken this class before — we’ll learn lots of new dances, so you won’t be bored!

Who is this for: You! This class will be perfect if you’ve never danced before, if you’re a pro with patience, or for anyone in the middle. No partner needed. All folks 18+ are welcome. If you can walk briskly, you can dance!
